New English National Concessionary Travel Scheme |
As from 1st April 2008 a new concessionary travel scheme for over-60s and disabled people is being introduced, which will allow free bus travel for passholders throughout the whole of England. The current Herefordshire concessionary travel scheme will be phased out and to benefit from the new scheme all existing passholders will have to apply for a national pass.
Anyone who already has a bus pass issued by Herefordshire Council will qualify for the new scheme, but will have to complete an application form and supply a photograph.
The form can be downloaded from the box at the right of this page or it can be posted to you if you email your full postal address to info@herefordshire.gov.uk or by telephoning (01432) 260500.
The forms are also available from the Council's Information Shops and Centres at:
- Cruxwell Street, Bromyard
- Hereford Centre, Garrick House, Widemarsh Street, Hereford
- 64, Bridge Street, Kington
- St. Katherine's, Ledbury
- Corn Square, Leominster
- Swan House, Edde Cross Street, Ross-on-Wye
We are currently inviting applications from holders of existing Herefordshire Council passes only. If you do not have a Herefordshire pass but would like to obtain an English National Pass for use after 1st April please revisit this site after Christmas where details of how to apply will be posted.
Please note that although applications for the English National Concessionary Bus Pass are now being invited the scheme does not begin until April 2008. Your new pass will be sent to you by post but due to the large number of applications expected there will be a delay before you receive it.
For more information on the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme please see the "Frequently Asked Questions" file in the Resources box below.
